Artist Statement

YOU ARE HERE I AM (GONE)

The origins of the moniker “GONE” come from the ephemeral nature of graffiti and unsolicited street art.

A name based on the idea that the artist is no longer present at the site of the artwork and that the artwork itself is on temporary display in a public space.

The interaction of street art with the public is not regulated by a privatised space that is often limited to the confines of a gallery or museum that many people do not take the time to access.

Removing artwork from the limited interaction of a gallery setting for GONE provides an avenue of art created out of a need for voice that is not based on a commercial idea of art but on the value of artistic outlet and the direct interaction with a public audience free the borders of privatized commerce.
